Buying your domain name is always a very concerning business, but at least at 123-reg.co.uk you can get it done without too much fuss, and without having to sign up to things you don't understand. 123-reg.co.uk says "123-reg.co.uk has the best value domain names on the Internet. You will not find a cheaper or more convenient way of buying and managing your domain names. UK domain names are an incredible 39p per year and US domain names are just £2.29 per year." which is fair enough, but don't forget you've got to pay the registry fee to the registry authority (you'd have to pay that anyway). Go for it!

When you are renewing your domain, renew well in advance, and check a few days after you have renewed on the WHOIS to make absolutely certain that the domain has been properly renewed. Of course you should never let a domain expire!
