The email@example.com spam accusation spam
The message (below) is accusing a RECEIVE-ONLY e-mail of sending spam! Besides the fact that we don't send spam advertising the product in question, the e-mail being accused can't actually send, even if it wanted to! In fact it only existed on the components page, was harvested, and then accused. I have heard a lot of people have been similarly insulted in being falsely accused of sending spam. So, what's going on?
Well, my theory is that it is a deliberate attempt to provoke a response. If you reply to the accusation, I'd guess your e-mail address is bagged and included in the next spam campaign!
Therefore I have included the offending address in the spam-traps at my e-mail page. This should result in other spam harvesters subscribing themselves to the spam list of other spam senders. Spam robots will then send each-other spam! Makes a change, don't you think?
If you receive such a message, don't reply, but instead get as many bogus addresses subscribed to it as possible. Don't let them win! There's a lot of us honest folk out there, and if we're not as stupid as some of these hard-sell marketers would like to think! Increasingly, people are making a vow to never buy via spam advertising. Hence the very poor yield.
Among those who send spam, there are good and bad, some who will respect you and some who won't. Spam is not universally bad, contrary to popular myth. However, if someone needs bullet-proof hosting, they may soon need to wonder whether they need a bullet-proof vest! See some more about spam at the page about SPAM. Meanwhile, here's the accusing message...
