The Golden Age of holiday camps was in the later decades of the 20th Century, as affectionately satirised by Hi-de-Hi. The British Holiday in a British resort, etc. Later, as holidays abroad became more affordable, a later variant of holiday camps, the All-Inclusive Resorts, became popular. Such places as The Dominican Republic were suddenly on the tourist map, as places which were cheaper even including the flight. Curiously, though, all-inclusive resorts have a reputation for being enclosed oases which tourists hardly dare to venture outside!
