Foundling Museum
"We do tell a remarkable story about the thousands of children whose parents,
for some reason or other (usually poverty), had to leave them to grow up at the Foundling Hospital. This charitable institution was the first of its kind and stood in London from 1741 to 1926. What makes it
even more fantastic is the art and music collection, donated by artists to help fundraise for the upkeep of the children. We show paintings by Hogarth, Gainesborough, Reynolds and many others, all with subject
matter specifically relating to the Foundling Hospital".
