Waitrose
Well-known wine and
food supermarket now featured at Zyra's affiliate website
Waitrose
Wine of the Month and other classy offers are available for your
perusal. In the words of Waitrose: "At Waitrose, we combine
the convenience of a supermarket with the expertise and service
of a specialist shop. Above all we take pride in the freshness
and quality of our food.
Fresh produce
arrives daily from all over the world. Bread is baked throughout
the day on the premises. We seek out fresh fruit and vegetables
all year round. And our fresh poultry and meat selection is
always of the highest quality".
People have written in with personal testimony extolling the quality of the food and wine, and the fact that Waitrose have knowledge of the origin of all the products on sale. This is traceability, and makes a difference especially to customers who regard quality as more important than price.
Waitrose:
"A Belief in Quality: Our reputation has been built, above
all, on the quality and freshness of our food. It is what our
customers want, and it is what gives us our edge over other
supermarkets.
Of vital importance
to us is the provenance and traceability of the food that is on
our shelves. Each of our buyers is an expert in his or her own
field. Their job is to seek out the best sources of the best
quality food and unusual ingredients that can't be found in other
supermarkets. Much of their time is spent with the farmers,
growers and suppliers, building relationships based on trust and
respect. Wherever possible our buyers buy British. Increasingly,
they are also sourcing local produce from small growers and
suppliers close to individual Waitrose stores".
Why
Waitrose?
The company was
founded in 1904 by Wallace Waite, Arthur Rose, and David Taylor,
and originally traded as "Waite, Rose & Taylor",
and over time this became shortened to "Waitrose".
Another interesting point is that Waitrose is part of the John Lewis Partnership and is collectively owned by the staff rather than by shareholders.
